Our Founder
David Wilson is an entrepreneur, mentor, and community advocate dedicated to transforming the lives of boys and young men on the Far Eastside of Indianapolis. Originally from Fort Wayne, David grew up facing the realities of instability and the challenges that come with being an at-risk youth. Raised by his grandparents, he learned early the value of structure, discipline, and love—foundations that shaped his determination to rise above difficult circumstances.
With their support and his own perseverance, David graduated from Indiana University and went on to build a life anchored in faith, family, and purpose. Today he is a devoted husband, father of five, and grandfather to four. His personal journey fuels his conviction that God plants potential in every young man, no matter his background or starting point.
This belief led David to establish Good Ground, a nonprofit committed to breaking cycles of fatherlessness, violence, and poverty by providing consistent mentorship, trauma-informed support, and positive male role models. David draws on decades of real-world experience in business ownership, real estate, ministry, and youth leadership to equip young men with the tools they need to grow, succeed, and discover their God-given purpose.
David’s leadership style is hands-on and relational. He believes transformation happens through presence—showing up consistently, listening deeply, and offering guidance with compassion and accountability. Whether supporting a young man wrestling with trauma or partnering with schools and local organizations, David approaches every opportunity with the belief that lasting change begins with planting the right seed.
Through Good Ground, David is committed to ensuring that young men on Indianapolis’ Far Eastside know this truth:
Your past is not your ceiling. With the right foundation—and someone who believes in you—your life can grow into something extraordinary
